The Greek island of Santorini is on alert after more than 200 earthquakes have rocked the area in the last 48 hours.

The Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has urged islanders on the popular Greek island of Santorini to "stay calm" after an increase in seismic activity in recent days.

The island is a popular tourist destination known for its whitewashed buildings and blue-domed churches.
According to Greek City News. A Seismic Risk Assessment Committee met on Monday to address the rising earthquake activity between Amorgos and Santorini. The meeting, chaired by Professor Efthymios Lekkas, led to school closures and safety precautions for residents. Meanwhile, government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis highlighted Greece’s ongoing defence spending and recent economic initiatives, alongside Prime Minister Mitsotakis’ proposals at the European Council. The main worry at the moment is the danger of landslides according to Professor Efthymios Lekkas.
