This morning, a very powerful magnitude 7.2 rocked the border between India and China. The shallow magnitude 7.1, was reduced to a mag 7. by USGS. This morning's major quake (mag 6 or higher) was the fourth this week in a very busy opening to 2025.
According to China Daily, 95 people were reported dead after the earthquake hit Xizang this morning. As of 3 pm on Tuesday, a total of 95 individuals have been confirmed dead and 130 others injured according to a news briefing conducted by the county's authorities on the ongoing rescue efforts. During the news conference, all attendees stood up and observed a moment of silence to honour the victims. The earthquake's epicentre was situated in the county's Tsogo township, where approximately 6,900 residents lived within a 20-km radius, encompassing approximately 27 villages.
Last night a M 6.2 rocked La Libertad, in El Salvador.The quake was felt in Nicaragua, Honduras and Guatemala. It did not trigger a tsunami warning. On Sunday morning, a strong and prolonged earthquake of 6.3 degrees of magnitude occurred in El Salvador, which so far has not left damage but no reported injuries.
