While our sun has been breathtakingly outlandish this February seismic activity has been somewhat pathetic. Last night's magnitude 6.3 quake was the biggest major quake of the month and one of the shallowest I have ever documented at just 2km deep.

While our sun has been breathtakingly outlandish this February seismic activity here on Earth has been somewhat pathetic, so far of course. Last night's magnitude 6.3 quake was the biggest major quake of the month and one of the shallowest I have ever documented at just 2km deep. The other three major quakes this month were all recorded along the Southwestern edge of the Pacific Ring of Fire.

The total number of major quakes, (mag 6 or higher) for the year so far is 16 with a mag 7.5 - near the Noto Peninsula, Japan just 8 hours into the new year being the most powerful so far.
