The first major quake of October is a magnitude 6.4 which shook the Philippines: Today's quake is the 110th major quake of 2019

We are into the 2nd half of October and only the first major quake of this month has been registered. A magnitude 6.4 - shook the Philippines this morning, killing a child and injuring many more other people.

The United States Geological Survey said the quake struck 69 km (43 miles) north-northwest of the city of General Santos, Mindanao at 7:39 p.m. (1137 GMT). The epicentre was about 80 km southwest of central Davao.

Today's quake is the first major quake of October and the 110th of 2019.
