Two more major quakes in the vicinity of New Zealand bring this months lofty total to an underwhelming 9

USGS
Two magnitude 6.0 quakes, one last night and one this morning in the vicinity of the Kermadec Islands, New Zealand are the 8th and 9th major quakes of June, just one more needed to reach double figures for the first time in a month period this year, in an incredible quiet first 6 months for major quakes this year.
The two quakes where only the 45th and 46th major quake of 2017.
Some of you readers have suggested USGS are not reporting them so as not to panic the people but I think that is highly unlikely considering the damage a major quake causes.
Maybe it's the calm before the big one!
