Where have the major quakes gone? Only the 6th major quake (mag 6 or higher) of March 2024 was recorded this morning. The quake rocked Paciran, Indonesian with a powerful mag 6.4. The quake was also incredibly shallow at only 8 km deep.

Only the 6th major quake (mag 6 or higher) of March 2024 was recorded this morning. The quake rocked Paciran, Indonesian with a powerful mag 6.4. The quake was also incredibly shallow at only 8 km deep. There have been no reports of damage so far. It brings the total number of major quakes (mag 6 or higher) so far this year to 22.

At the same time last year 33 had been recorded while in 2022, at the same time, 39 had been recorded. It is early days of course. . .
