The first 2 major quakes of 2024—(mag 6 or higher) belong to Japan, and—I guess I can add—The Big Wobble too because I predicted them here, yesterday!
Last night's New Year celebrations enjoyed the biggest fireworks party ever when the strongest flare of Solar Cycle 25 (so far) and the most powerful eruption the sun has produced since the great storms of Sept. 2017 exploded. The X5-class Solar Flare was followed this morning with a less powerful M2-class flare.
The two major quakes—(mag 6 or higher), the first a very powerful shallow mag 7.5 followed by a shallow mag 6.2 aftershock triggered several tsunami alerts for the entire Western Coast of Japan. The massive quakes appear to have occurred after a large low- depression system gave way to a dominant high-pressure system, causing the North American Plate to slip, although, I can't be sure of course.
The area has suffered at least 10 mag 5+ aftershocks, so please stay tuned. . .
xx
