A magnitude 6.5 major quake - 113 km SE of Kuril’sk, Russia struck yesterday morning and is the 146th major quake, (mag 6 or higher) to be recorded by USGS this year. Yesterday's quake followed a familiar pattern, it was recorded in the middle of a high-pressure area and a massive low-pressure storm, the massive storm circled over the quake area a day earlier before moving East.

Yesterday's major quake followed another familiar pattern of 2023, namely—Of the 146 major quakes recorded this year, an incredible 101 of them have been on the Western side of the Pacific Ring Of Fire, which, if my maths are half decent, makes that almost two-thirds of all major quakes this year!
