The first major quake, (mag 6 or higher) of October belongs to the explosive Vanuatu region in the South Pacific Ocean and it is a big one. The mag 7.3 was recorded this morning by USGS, no tsunami warning has been issued.

The first major quake, (mag 6 or higher) of October belongs to the explosive Vanuatu region in the South Pacific Ocean and it is a big one. The mag 7.3 was recorded this morning by USGS, no tsunami warning has been issued. It is not known yet if any fatalities or damage to buildings have been reported.

Last month a further 9 major quakes, (mag 6 or higher) were recorded and the total for the year to date stands at 116. the total at the same time last year was 98. In 2019 the total was 110.
