M 6.9 - South Sandwich Islands region has delivered the 100th major quake, for 2021. Meanwhile, Haiti's hospitals are in peril of collapse after a devastating earthquake has killed 1, 300 people a further 6,000 people are thought to be injured

M 6.9 - South Sandwich Islands region has delivered the 100th major quake, (mag 6 or higher) for 2021. The mag 6.9 is the 8th major quake to hit the region this month with a mag 8.1, the second biggest quake of this year, and a mag 7.5 rocking the islands on Friday. Today's quake is the 10th major quake of August 2021.

Meanwhile, Haiti's hospitals are in peril of collapse after a devastating earthquake has killed 1, 300 people a further 6,000 people are thought to be injured. The powerful mag 7.2 destroyed thousands of homes and buildings with the nation still recovering from a powerful quake in 2010 which killed 220,000 people.  To make things worse, Tropical Storm Grace will impact the Caribbean nation later today.
