A very powerful, shallow, magnitude 6.6 earthquake rocks the Kamchatsk Staryy Region in Eastern Russia: Last nights quake was the 15th major quake, (mag 6 or higher) of a very busy March and the 43rd major quake of 2021 which is the 2nd highest number ever recorded in the first 76 days of any year

A very poweful, shallow, magnitude 6.9 earthquake, (reduced to a magnitude 6.6 by USGS) rocked the Kamchatsk Staryy Region in Eastern Russia last night. The major quake is not thought thought to have caused any damage in the lowly populated area, however, the quake did cause a tsunami to the area. 

Last nights quake was the 15th major quake, (mag 6 or higher) of a very busy March and the 43rd major quake of 2021 which is the 2nd highest number ever recorded in the first 76 days of any year. 2011 was the highest number with an incredible 89 major quakes, (mag 6 or higher), however, most of thoes were aftershocks from the mag 9 Great Honshu quake which destroyed Fukushima.
