An earthquake of magnitude 6.3 struck near the south coast of Japan's island of Honshu early on Sunday.
The estimated population of the area where the earthquake was felt is 30 million inhabitants, one of the most populated areas of Japan.
This mornings quake was the 13th major quake of July and the 90th of 2019.
This year's major quake total (M6+) is much higher than at this time last year when 54 major quakes had been recorded and only 57 in the same time period of 2017.
