How Soon Is Now? Chapter 7: Fallen Angels

Chapter 7: Fallen Angels

Genesis 6: 4. The Nephʹi·lim were on the earth in those days and afterwards.
During that time the sons of the true God continued to have relations with the daughters of men, and these bore sons to them. They were the mighty ones of old times, the men of fame.”

I awoke to the smell of bacon, eggs and coffee, Maggie was cooking breakfast, "good morning my darling, how did you sleep?"
"I slept awful, just like I always do on this rotten couch," I said smiling.
"Well my dear, it won't be for much longer, here drink this," she handed me a cup of coffee and kissed me on my cheek.
"Thank you," I switched on the wall monitor with the remote control.
The headlines were worrying, in the night Israel's Iron Dome defence system had intercepted five Iranian Shahab-6 rockets, however, a sixth had pierced the dome defence landing on the outskirts of Tel Aviv killing 3 people and wounding another five.
A BBC reporter was claiming The United Nations were co-operating with regional and international partners in efforts to defuse tensions, encourage improvements on the ground, and advance political negotiations toward a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Iran conflict as well as a comprehensive, just and lasting harmony in the Middle East, that is never going to happen I thought.
Maggie sat down, she looked at me with a mischevious look and handed my bacon and eggs.
"Thank you, Maggie, what does that look mean," I asked.
"Oh nothing honey, enjoy your breakfast."
Meanwhile on the BBC, Iran’s leader was claiming Israel and the United States were seeking to engage Asian countries in wars and acts of terror with the purpose of exhausting their resources and hindering their progress he had said in Tehran this morning in an address to the closing ceremony of an emergency council conference on the challenge of terrorism and inter-regional connectivity, attended by speakers from Afghanistan, China, Iran, Pakistan, Russia and Turkey. He added that Israel and the US were playing a very dangerous game which will ultimately bring them destruction.
"Are you going into work today," I asked Maggie?
"I called my boss this morning and he told me to work from home today as they are expecting more demonstrations and possible riots in Amsterdam later today," Maggie explained.
"I smiled, "cool."
Maggie laughed, "I will be working and I have a Skype interview later this afternoon," she said.
"I'll be working my self," I mocked.
"You better do too, I will need to be kept in the in the splendour I am used to, I'm a girl with expensive taste, you are duly warned," she laughed.
We both started giggling.
"Seriously though, I will need to work in here today in the living room, the balcony would be too noisy for me, I will need quiet today," she said.
"That's fine honey I will stay outside on the balcony, gladly," I said.
I was about to remind Maggie who's house it was when she put her finger to her lips and said, "shhhh, just a sec!"
A BBC reporter was claiming North Korea had genetically altered humans, changed their DNA, which would prevent the acceleration of old age and lengthening a humans life expectancy by more than one hundred years.
Maggie grabbed my empty plate and muttered under her breath, "just as the days of Noah."
"What did you say," I asked.
"Oh, just as the days of Noah, that was a prophecy form Jesus Christ regarding the end times," said Maggie.
"Tell me more," I asked.
Maggie quoted Matthew 24: 38, 39. For as they were in those days before the Flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and they took no note until the Flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be.
"Nothing strange there she said, before the flood, people in Noah's days carried on with not a care in the world, until it was too late, just as now," Maggie explained.
However, it is what Jesus doesn't tell us, as to why the two periods in mankind's history are so important and linked, something which only happened in Noah's time something which was so bad God decided to destroy the world and the same thing is happening now in our generation," she said.
"I have covered this frightening coincidence in my book," explained Maggie.
"And what is that," I asked intrigued.
"There is a passage in Genesis 6: 4. The Nephʹi·lim were on the earth in those days and afterwards.
During that time the sons of the true God (angels) continued to have relations with the daughters of men, and these bore sons to them. They were the mighty ones of old times, the men of fame."
Maggie went on, "the sons of the true God continued to have relations with the daughters of men, which translates, Angels, Fallen Angels, took human wives and bore something which was not human, that being the Nephʹi·lim, sons of the Fallen Angels and those very sons grew into murdering giants.
"Yeah I have read something about this," I said.
"The Fallen Angels also studied all types of creatures and mankind, to cut a long story short the fallen Angels began experimenting with chromosomes to produce half-sheep and half-goats, they then crossed these with other life-forms with a chromosome count not too different from their own to create their own desired creatures."
"Another old book, the ancient Book Of Jasher mentions cross-breeding with cattle and birds which is probably where the legend of the winged horse Pegasus comes from."
"Since the 1970s, modern man has been dabbling in genetic experiments, altering everything from food to babies and now, this morning we are suddenly going to be given the chance of an offer we can't refuse, get your DNA upgraded and you will live for an extra one hundred years, but don't read the small print, when we have changed your DNA we will have changed the code God gave you,"
"In His eyes, you are not even human anymore," Maggie said looking concerned.
She went on, "Revelation 14:9-10, reads, another angel, a third, followed them, saying in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the wild beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he will also drink of the wine of the anger of God that is poured out undiluted into the cup of His wrath."
"What is the mark of the beast, probably a changed DNA," she said?"
She went on, "Satan the deceiver, wow, is he slick, it's the deal of a lifetime, no pun intended, I will give you an extra one hundred years if you give me your eternal life!"
Maggie was visibly upset, I pulled her to me and I just held her for a while, I had never seen her like this, she was genuinely angry.
She looked at me sadly and said, "there is a passage in Revelation 9: 6, regarding the 5th Trumpet, it says, in those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, but death will escape them, sound familiar?" she said.
I carried on holding her softly, "enough," she said, "we can carry on with this later, I have a lot to do, so, if you will excuse me, honey?"
"Sure,?" I replied and kissed her on the cheek.

I sat on the balcony, my trusty laptop on the table, I looked down onto the boulevard, as we moved closer to the holiday period the place was becoming even more crowded, the beach too, the weather was hot, a little too hot for my liking the last week at least, I now couldn't remember the last time I had seen any rain, the trees along the main street were beginning to lose their leaves and the grass verge was not green but white from the scorched earth.
Maggie was inside on the phone talking in German to someone, I opened up my laptop and started work, updating my website, I had also been commissioned to write a piece about the global weather crisis for a national newspaper in the UK,

Global weather crisis written and researched by Cooper Watson
As weather records around the globe keep on tumbling, here are a few new records I have dug up myself in recent days...
Africa's hottest recorded temperature ever recorded was in 1931 when the mercury reached an incredible 55 deg C, (131 deg F) in Kibili Tunisia, however, The BBC claim that record could be unreliable according to scientists. On July the 5th some experts are claiming Africa's hottest temperature was reached when the mercury hit an unimaginable 55.3 deg C, (131.5 deg F) in Ouargla, Algeria.

Earlier this year Pakistan experienced the world's hottest April day on record, with temperatures peaking at 50.2 deg C, (122.4deg F). Meanwhile, after being sunless for 5 months through winter much of the Arctic was abnormally warm around the same time. The temperature averaged over the whole region appears to be the warmest on record for that time of year, dating back to at least 1958 and was warmer than Spain and Greece last February. Coming back to July, cities across Eastern Canada suffered a deadly heat wave, with at least 500 deaths attributed to the record hot spell in Quebec province alone. In Canada's capital Ottawa, the humidity index - the method used there to measure the combined humidity level and temperature - hit 47C (116.6F) on 2 July, 2025. According to BBC Weather's Ben Rich: "The jet stream has shifted further north than usual, allowing a plume of very warm air to waft northwards across the USA and into large parts of Canada. There was also less rainfall than normal during May and June - and dry ground has heated up more quickly, so temperatures have been able to rise well above average. Record after record fell in southern parts of California last week: Downtown Los Angeles had its hottest July night in history, with a minimum of 30.1C (86 deg F) on 7 July. Chino, outside LA, saw its hottest-ever temperature - 48.9 C (120 F). The temperature at University of California, Los Angeles, hit 45 deg C (113 deg F), breaking a 79-year-old record. The heat also caused many health concerns with people suffering from breathing problems and asthma attacksdur to bushfires. In essence, it's the same problem that has affected eastern Canada. So is this down to climate change? It's hard to pin it on that and only that, according to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

Australia bakes in the summer but it's the middle of the winter there now, however, they have not escaped the heat, last week, the temperature in Sydney topped 26.7deg C, (78.5 deg F), for over two days in July for the first time since records began. That's roughly ten deg Celsius higher than the average temperature for this time of year. This comes after most parts of the city recorded their hottest-ever autumn. Temperatures rose during early July as an area of high pressure settled to the east of Australia, bringing warm northwesterly winds from the Equator down across the eastern side of Australia.

The whole Caucasus region, a mountainous area on the border of Europe and Asia, has suffered particularly high temperatures this month. The capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, hit an all-time high of 43.5 deg C (108. def F) on 4 July, but the heat has put a significant strain on an (often ageing) power grids in other countries nearby.

There have been major power cuts in Iran because demand outstripped the electrical system's capabilities as people try to stay cool. The government there has urged people to conserve energy wherever possible.

In Europe, it's the same with parts of south-west France hitting 44 deg C (111 deg F). The UK and Ireland have seen the hottest summer they have had since 2018 and here in Holland where I am based, it hasn't rained for nearly two months.

At the beginning of June, a heat wave in Mexico increased temperatures to 50 C (122 F) in many areas and led authorities to declare a state of emergency, the country's National Weather Service (SMN). According to the SMN, temperatures rose to 50 C in the northern state of Sinaloa, the western state of Michoacan and the central state of Hidalgo.

But it's not all about heat, many frightening statistics are being released after the unprecedented torrential rainfall in Japan and the real problem now for rescuers looking for the many people missing is the heat with temperatures around 35 deg C, (95 deg F). A years year's rain has fallen in Japan in several days. Nearly ten million people were ordered to leave their homes. Another 10,000 are people are in shelters, according to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency. More than 500 people have died with dozens still missing. More than 250,000 people are without water as 70,000 rescuers continue the search for missing people.
The soaring temperatures have fuelled concern that residents, many still in temporary evacuation centres, may suffer heat strokes or illness as hygiene levels deteriorate.

Greece, where you would expect heat this time of the year, is recovering from flash floods which have devastated Athens for the second time in less than a year. Unseasonable extreme rains- unheard of in Greece in the summer months- has left much of the Greek mainland drenched.Flooding and rivers overflowing their banks were reported in regions throughout the mainland, including Larisa. The town of Mandra, where 24 people lost their lives last November during torrential rains and extreme flooding, was hard hit again.

According to Chile's Ministry of Health (Minsa), 604 people have died of pneumonia by June 20, 2018, due to low temperatures. The number includes more than 400 older adults and 72 children under the age of 5. Since winter season is just beginning, low temperatures, snow and frost are expected to continue.Earlier this year.

Cape Town braced for Day Zero for the second time in seven years. That would be the day that South Africa's second-largest city turned off its taps and sent its 4 million residents to water-collection points for no more than 25 litres (7 gallons) per person per day. The first Day Zero was scheduled for early May 2018, now Day Zero two is set for August the 1st 2025.
I emailed the finished article to the newspaper and added the piece to my website, I opened my emails.
I could hear Maggies keyboard click-click-clacking at a very impressive speed in the living room

An iceberg nearly ten kilometres wide and drifting off Greenland had triggered fears of flooding as it broke up, leading authorities to evacuate people to a low-risk zone. The authorities had urged residents of the Innaarsuit island settlement with houses on a promontory to move away from the shore over fears that the 200-metre high iceberg, which was spotted on Thursday, could swamp the area.

Meanwhile, an email from Sweden's national weather agency SMHI claimed Sweden to be the latest country to join the increasingly long list of countries in the grip of crippling heatwaves.
And it will be the second of their summer after a long heatwave at the end of May.
The heatwave in Sweden is getting so bad that the country has now sent out official warnings about "extremely high temperatures" in several areas, including Stockholm and Uppsala.
Sweden's SMHI on Sunday issued a class-two alert for "extremely high temperatures" (the most serious temperature warning) in counties in central parts of the country: Orebro, Västmanland, Sodermanland, Uppsala and Stockholm.
The warning means that temperatures were expected to reach 35 deg C, 95 deg F or more five days in a row.

Maggie came onto the balcony with a tray of sandwiches and two glasses of ice cold milk.
"Here you are my darling, lunch," she said handing me a plate.
"Delicious, thank you, how is your work going honey," I asked.
"Ok and you?"
"I'm good," I said.
"My boss rang in earlier, he said there are more riots in Amsterdam and Rotterdam today, they are trashing the major cities," explained Maggie.
"What about you, you heard any more news about the Iran Israel crisis," asked Maggie.
"No nothing," I shrugged, I switched on the BBC News on my laptop.
A BBC reporter was claiming Israel’s military announced the discovery of a third Hezbollah tunnel on Tuesday, just hours after six IDF troops taking part in an operation, were ambushed and killed by Hezbollah troops who are sponsored by Iran. Meanwhile, Hezbollah’s war media department launched an intensified campaign to show the weakness and fragility of the Israeli army after shooting the enemy soldiers from rear positions.
"That is wonderful propaganda for Hezbollah and Iran," I said.
"Yes," said Maggie.
"I have a Skype interview in an hour and then I'm finished for the day, do you feel like a long walk along the beach later?" She asked.
"I would love to Maggie," I said.
"She pulled me to her and kissed me softly, ok, I will give you a shout when I'm done."

I opened up my laptop and went back to work.
An email from NASA showing satellite photos of at least 101 wildfires raging inside and just outside the Arctic Circle caught my attention.
The hot, dry summer was turning an abnormally wide area of Northern Europe into a tinderbox.
The worst affected country, Sweden, which had called for emergency assistance from its partners in the European Union to help fight the blazes, which had broken out across a wide range of its territory and prompted the evacuations of four communities.
Norway and Finland were burning too.
Tens of thousands of people had been warned to remain inside and close windows and vents to avoid smoke inhalation.
The Copernicus Earth observation programme, which gives daily updates of fires in Europe, was showing more than 60 wildfires burning in Sweden.
Swedish authorities say the risk of more fires in the days ahead was "extremely high" due to temperatures forecast in excess of 30C near to the Arctic Circle.

Stingrays had been increasingly spotted in British waters during the recent summer heatwave.
As 2025 continued to bake in the Northern Hemisphere the Atlantic ocean was beginning to show increased stress as strange and unusual creatures were turning up thousands of miles from where they should be.
Stingrays had been spotted in shallow water close to a number of beaches in the Channel Islands and the southern seas of the UK.
The increased numbers of the deadly creatures were believed to be linked to the prolonged spell of warm and settled weather, which has encouraged stingrays to move out of deeper water.
Meanwhile, the BBC reported that swimmers were warned of blue sharks spotted close to beaches in St Ives and Cornwall. Last week, monster-sized jellyfish invasion swamped Northern Ireland beaches with Portuguese-man-of-war, thousands of miles from their normal habitat, they had been spotted around UK beaches too.
In late May this year, the coastline of the French resort Palavas-Les-Flots turned a dark purple after jellyfish-like organisms called velella velella washed ashore by the billion.
While velella clusters are a somewhat a regular occurrence on U.S. coastlines, this marks the first time they've been observed on this part of the French coast.

Two hours later Maggie and I were walking north, the sun behind us, the cool wet sand and breaking white surf splashed over our shoeless feet and felt delicious, Maggie and I had smeared ourselves in a heavy factor suncream but even so our long walks had turned our skin into a deep bronze colour and Maggie's blond hair had turned almost white, we left the tourist area and once again as we walked on, the beach slowly became deserted.
I had my arm around Maggie's shoulders, she had her arm around my waist, our joined-up shadow visible in front of us, an onshore wind blew the cobwebs out of our hair, the warm sun felt so good on the back of my bare legs.

I looked at Maggie and said," can I ask you a question, Maggie?"
"Sure you can," she said.
"Ok, why, Maggie, does God allow all this evil and suffering," I asked.
Maggie looked at me and smiled, "that's a great question darling."
"God is not the cause of human suffering," Maggie explained.
"Jesus himself called Satan the ruler of the world, in John 14:30."
Maggie went on, "Satan even offered Jesus the world after Jesus had finished fasting in the desert for 40 days and nights."
"In Matthew 4:8-9, the Devil took Jesus to an unusually high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him: All these things I will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me. Jesus refused of course but the point here is proof, Satan could only offer Jesus all the kingdoms of the world if he owned them," Maggie reasoned.
She went on, "Jehovah is the Universal Sovereign, however, for a time, God has allowed Satan to rule the world," she explained.
"Why would God do that, do you think," Maggie asked?"
"I didn't know he had," I said.
Maggie smiled, "Jehovah created Adam and Eve to fill the world with mankind, as perfect human beings, they were given everlasting life, all they had to do was follow God's ways but they sinned when they sided with Satan, they rejected God’s rule and chose self-rule or Satan's rule which introduced death to all humans."
"Maggie went on, "so, for now, Satan has the world in his evil grip but, as with all the prophecies I have been explaining to you recently, not for much longer."
"His reign is coming to an end," I said.
"Yes," said Maggie, "it is very interesting what is written in Ephesians 6:12: because we have a struggle, not against blood and flesh, but against the governments, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places," the darkness of the spirit forces are hiding here in plain sight but most of the world refuses to see."

Maggie stopped walking, "come on,"  she said, "let's go for a swim, she stripped down to her bikini and dived into the sea, "Aagh, it's cold," she screamed as she surfaced laughing.
I stripped down to my boxer shorts and dived in too, the initial cold shock took my breath away but then my body acclimatised and it felt wonderful to be in the water.
"This sure beats working," she said.
"It surely does," I agreed, laughing.
We splashed around enjoying innocent fun.
"Shall we eat shouted Maggie, I'm starving," she said.

We arrived back on the boulevard late, the sun was low but still warm, our hair was matted and full of sand from the swim, Maggie was still giggling, "shall we eat some fish I asked," I was starving after the swim.
"Oh yes please," laughed Maggie, I'm so hungry.
We took the last table on the terrace in the restaurant under my apartment, the place was heaving, people were shouting, laughing, talking and some even singing, the clink-clink sound could be heard of knives and forks clattering against porcelain plates, a Dutch folk singer was in the corner, smoking a spliff before his next number.
We both ordered a cold beer for starters and tiger prawns in garlic.
On the wall, a monitor was showing Breaking news, Israel had shot down an Iranian Russian made Sukhoi Su-57 stealth jet-fighter over the Golan Heights, more news was to follow, I nudged Maggie.
"It's escalating, isn't it," she asked?
"Yes darling, it doesn't look good."
