Indian Ocean Typhoon & Tropical Storm Center monitors new Tropical Cyclone 02A


As of Monday morning, EDT, Tropical Cyclone 02A is located approximately 215 miles south-southwest of Karachi, Pakistan.
Tropical Cyclone 02A is moving westward at 7 mph. Maximum-sustained winds are 40 mph with gusts to 50 mph.


On June 27 the MODIS instrument NASA's Terra satellite captured this visible light image of Tropical Storm 02A over the Arabian Sea. Credits: NASA Goddard MODIS Rapid Response Tropical Cyclone 02A is forecast to move westward over the next few days and slowly strengthen due to good outflow and warm sea-surface temperatures.
This system is then expected to weaken later this week as it approaches Oman due to an increase in vertical wind shear.
